Meet the Author

Dr. Paul J. Mills ph.d.

Paul J. Mills, Ph.D. is Professor of Public Health and Family Medicine and Director of the Center of Excellence for Research and Training in Integrative Health at the University of California San Diego. He is former Chief of Behavioral Medicine and Former Director of the Clinical Research Biomarker Laboratory at the University of California San Diego.

His scientific career has been active and diverse, with over 400 scientific publications in the fields of pharmacology, oncology, cardiology, psychoneuroimmunology, space physiology with NASA, behavioral medicine, and integrative health. He was part of the research team that published some of the earliest scientific research on meditation. He has held leadership positions in many national and international scientific societies as well as in numerous scientific journals.

In 2022, Paul completed serving as Guest Editor for the journal Global Advances in Health and Medicine (GAHM) on a Special Collection of articles on the topic of Whole Health. GAHM is the official journal of the Academic Consortium for Integrative Health and Medicine.

His work has been featured in Time Magazine, The New York Times, National Public Radio, US News and World Reports, Consumer Reports, The Huffington Post, Gaia TV, and WebMD, among others. He’s presented his work at hundreds of conferences and workshops around the world, including presenting at the United Nations.
