Understanding Our Inner Subconscious Selves
Have you ever been in an argument with yourself and feel like no one wins? This is because we have more than one part of our self that may feel differently about the various situations and relationships we are experiencing. That is, we are not of one mind but have several aspects to our consciousness. I work with a model that identifies seven different selves. Learning to listen, interact and co-create together among the selves sets us up for maximum growth on the path, regardless of the path you are walking.
Personal Self Integration is a model that offers practical ways of going within to meet our Subconscious or Inner Selves. By way of guided meditations, we meet each of these Inner Selves, which are different energies representing different aspects of our subconscious and conscious minds. They are archetypal. By definition, an archetype is a typical character, an action or a situation that seems to represent such universal patterns of human nature. An archetype, also known as a universal symbol, may be a character, a theme, a symbol or even a setting and multifaceted in nature. The work and the joy is to meet and get to know each one on a deeply intimate level. The Outer Self-personality that we see in the mirror every day is the one on the leading/creative edge of life. Sometimes an internal tug-of-war may begin because one of our Inner Selves may not agree with what the Outer Self is creating or doing. This is usually when sabotage and/or victimization happens.
It is common to find times in our lives where we feel fragmented, confused, misunderstood, depressed, frustrated and challenged to create what we want or even to discover our true talents and reason for being. Be assured that these feelings are a wake-up call from one or more of our Inner Selves. They are trying to get our attention and get us to stop, go inward and listen. To hear what the grievances are before moving forward. Damage usually happens when we become too willful. Learning to be a good listener is essential for any relationship, and we would be well advised to tune-in and listen to all aspects of ourselves.
In these sessions, we will meet the Inner Selves individually and find out how they affect what is being manifested in our lives. The goal is to listen to what deep fears and desires exist and work toward win-win agreements internally before taking action. These Inner Selves are brilliant and dynamic characters ultimately seeking liberation. Before liberation can be achieved, often there is a need to heal feelings of being enslaved and/or a fear of being annihilated. This is one reason why partnerships in love or business may become challenging. If one or more of the Selves is fearful of becoming enslaved, marriage or written agreements may not be agreeable and therefore (inner) sabotage is the result. We do this to ourselves.
We all have an Archetypal self that is loudest at the microphone. Who is he/she drowning out? They too can have a voice. It is safe to find your voice – all your voices.
